What are the conventions of the horror genre.

1. Horror films are unsettling, 'on-edge ' and aim to create fear and sometimes disgust.
2. Horror films can also include many other genre's such as comedy, sci-fi, fantasy and supernatural.
3. Horror films can create nightmares and bring out hidden worst fears, there definatly not for the light-hearted.
4. Many plots, scenes and parts involved in horror movies involve intrusion of evil; people, events or supernatural origin into the real everyday world.
5. Typical horror films include, ghosts, zombies, werewolves, demons, vicious animals, vampires, cannibals and haunted houses.
6. Horror films now are very different from other decades they tend to varie alot, Horror now is a genre to films which contain extreme gore, jump- scenes and supernatural behavior.
7. Earlier horror films were based on gothic horror and classic literature such as frankenstein and the phantom of the opera.
8. In the 1890's to 1920's supernatural behavior took its first depictions.
9. In the early 20th century the first monster appeared in horror genre films.
10. Remakes of horror films became regular in the 2000's much like 2004's remake of 'dawn of the dead'.
